DeWitt Leadership Institute
The DeWitt Chamber of Commerce, together with Eastern Iowa Community College District, has developed
the DeWitt Leadership Institute, which is designed to prepare emerging and existing leaders in the
DeWitt area to become community trustees. The goal of the Institute is to identify and develop future
leaders in our community. Participants will learn leadership skills to be used in the workplace, as
well as the community. They will be challenged and motivated to become leaders in continuing with the
success of the DeWitt area. The Institute will accomplish its mission by facilitating the following
desired results: More candidates for elected office; People who will take initiative and responsibility
for making things happen in business and the community; Individuals who will chair meetings and accept
visible leadership positions, who are motivated and prepared for new levels of responsibility; Leaders
who are much better informed about the community needs, resources, networks, and how they can contribute
to and tap into each other; Persons with strong skills for leading volunteers; A stronger and broader
leadership network in DeWitt.
